Two Families Law is a non-traditional, out-of-court family law practice in Durham, North Carolina. We work with families from the beginning of their separation through the end of their legal divorce, and beyond. Our deepest goal is to give you and your family the best transition possible.

We are an anti-racist, lgbtq-affirming, feminist, women-led practice. We see that our world and our social structures have all sorts of unfair biases and hierarchies that don’t serve any of us well and especially disenfranchise some. We welcome clients of all backgrounds and beliefs, as long as you can be kind here. We will promote fairness and an equality of power of all parties at the negotiation table, because we believe that this is the best way through.

"Two families" refers to the way divorce turns one household unit into two. We employ cooperative, collaborative, and peacemaking processes to help families resolve the legal and logistical details of their divorce privately, respectfully, and entirely outside of court. This is possible and it’s so much better than the alternative. We promise.
