We are now accepting applications for our 2020 Pearl Berlin Scholarship. This scholarship was started in honor of the late Pearl Berlin, a hero in the fight for marriage equality.

Berlin and her partner of 52 years, Ellen “Lennie” Gerber, of High Point, were plaintiffs in the lawsuit that upended North Carolina’s Amendment One, which defined marriage as between a man and a women. They were the first winners of the Guilford Green Visionary Award.

This scholarship honors Pearl and her lifetime of work as a fearless advocate for equality and same-sex marriage. The inaugural scholarships will be awarded in the spring 2020 to graduating seniors who have demonstrated leadership in the LGBTQ community.
