One Step Further Family Factor Program – $10,000
This program decreases parent’s rejecting behaviors of their LGBTQ children and increases the mental health and well-being of youth.
Youth Focus Act Together Crisis Center – $5,000
This grant will fund 35 days of emergency shelter care, meals, counseling and other support for youth. An estimated 40 percent of homeless youth in the United State are LGBTQ, according to the University of Chicago.
Family Service of the Piedmont LGBTQ Domestic Violence Services – $5,000
Family Service of the Piedmont, which helps families in crisis, is working to improve its services and outreach to the LGBTQ community experiencing domestic violence. This grant will help them identify and address specific barriers to that might prevent LGBTQ survivors from seeking help.
Greensboro Mural Project Queer Ancestors Mural – $4,000
A Greensboro artist will design a mural inspired by interviews with locals about who their queer ancestors. It will be painted at the YWCA with the help of its summer camp children, who will learn about the LGBTQ people featured.
North Star LGBTQ Center – $3,500
This grant will pay for a professional counselor to work with the teens at North Star to learn the skills and
tools to achieve and maintain an affirming, balanced, and healthy life.
PFLAG Winston-Salem Conference – $2,500
This grant will help PFLAG Winston-Salem host the first Support the Rainbow Conference. It will focus on providing behavioral health professionals and educators sessions on trans-affirming care, gender, safe zones and more while promoting conversations between supportive organizations.
